So much so that I’ve decided to go through my 400 million sketchbooks (ok, that’s a mild exaggeration. There’s probably only 250 million…) and start offering up some of my babies original sketches for sale. I’m still sifting through them all and deciding which ones I can bear to give up – but on the bright side, this means that you now have the opportunity to get your paws on a completely original, unique drawing by me. No one else in the world will have what you do!

There’s everything from cute and cuddlies to pin up girls. Literally something to suit everyone’s taste.

I can not even begin to express the excitement I felt when I was presented with my first copy of the wonderful book – seeing my art on the cover of a real life book was the best feeling ever! Working with Monica has been amazing and I truly can’t wait to work with her on the next one (yes, part two is in the pipeline!).

The book is aimed at children 9-12 years old, although I have read it and I loved it! In my opinion, any lovers of the fantasy genre over the age of about 7 will find it a truly enjoyable read! If you would like to grab yourself a copy you can do so from the following places;

Well, just to solve my lack of time I’ve decided to tackle another new project. Yes, I am that crazy! If you’ve been following me on Facebook (and I hope you have been!) you will have seen my progress on my project365. I’ve been having a ball drawing all sorts of colourful critters at your requests! (see previous post) I started sketching my own little fur family and it gave me an idea…

I’m going to offer Pet Pawtraits! That’s right, I am going to draw your pet in my own style and immortalise their furry little personalities on paper forever. Better yet, it is at an insanely low price as each image so far has taken me a good few hours to complete! You’re definitely getting more bang for your buck…or doe, or cat, or dog…  Sorry. So, how does it work? Read on!

Pet Pawtraits:

• How much? $80 (Aus) +postage. You will get a full colour head and shoulders image of your furry friend, printed on fine art rag paper. It will fit a standard 8×10″ frame. Additional animals (in the same image) are $40 each. I wouldn’t recommend more than 2 to any one image. Too squishy!
• How long will it take? I will be working on a first come, first served basis. If you need an image completed by a specific date please email me asap and I will try to work something out. Otherwise, I would estimate at least 14 days, plus postage time. It may be sooner, it may be later. I will email you with an approx date.
• How do I order one? You can order one directly via the online shoppe (click here). Alternatively, you can send an email to danika[at]artemisscreations[dot]com with 2-3 clear photographs of the subject. I will only be drawing the head and shoulders of your pet, so don’t stress if the body isn’t very clear in the image. I will also require the following information;
  • Pet’s Name:
  • Breed (if known):
  • Pet’s Gender:
  • Personality (how would you like them portrayed? Loving? Proud? Silly? etc):

• What payment do you accept? Purchases via the online shoppe will be processed by Paypal. If you are emailing me directly I am accepting either Direct Debit, or Paypal. All orders will recieve a low resolution copy of their image via email before being sent. Prints will not be posted until full payment has been received.
• Wait! I have more questions! Great! Send me an email with any further questions and I will respond to you asap.

…problem solved! I wanted to share with you a truly wonderful tutorial I found online for a last minute gift idea. It really can be adapted to anyone that enjoys cookies (and let’s be honest here…who doesn’t?!) and is perfect for that person who seems to have everything. I give you – Christmas Cookies in a Jar!

These little darlings win you bonus points in all the right areas. A) They’re handmade – aren’t you clever!? B) They look pretty and can be adapted to your own style C) They are edible, and delicious to boot! and D) You can make as many as you like and the novelty simply never wears off.

Now, I found a great many recipes for these cookie jars online. I made mine according to the Disney Family Fun recipe - although I hear that Bakerella’s “Cowgirl Cookies” recipe is to die for. You can just alternate the M&M’s to the Christmas variety (you know, those cool red and green ones available this time of year?). Grab all your ingredients, layer them into the jar (I topped mine up with festive lollies, because I tampered my layers a little too hard! lol), pop on the lid and decorate. Don’t forget to add a gift tag with wet ingredients and instructions! If you’re strapped for cash or time, my little secret is cutting up old Christmas cards – that way you don’t necessarily have to design anything, but you can recycle your old cards and still get a beautiful image to adorn your jar. Just write on the back of the cover.

Here’s how mine looked; I’m still waiting to hear how they turned out. My friend is saving them for Christmas Eve to bake with the kids.

What else do I love about it, though? I absolutely love sending out my cards. I know – with the age of the internet upon us, it’s all to easy to click and email a generic ecard these days…but, really? It kind of loses the essence of why we send cards, it’s so stark and impersonal. Oh, and lazy. A Christmas card isn’t just some “silly, old tradition” or a “waste of time” as I have heard friends describe them, oh no! Recieving that gorgeous little card in post says to the recipient, “hey, I may not see you all year ’round, but you are still in my thoughts. I took time out of my busy life to think of *you* this Christmas, and I care enough to let you know. You are special to me!” And that, is getting into the true spirit of Christmas, is it not?

Personalised Christmas Cards:

In my opinion, the most special gifts that I have ever recieved have been those that are unique to me. These cards are much the same! You can take any of my original Christmas artworks and adorn them with your very own Christmas message on the front and inside of the card – what a treat for someone to recieve a card with their own name printed on it! Even better, as you’ve already “written” in it, I am more than happy to post it directly to the recipient for you (for no extra charge, of course) so that it gets there that little bit quicker!

I’m sure some of us have quite a large family, or group of friends to get in touch with this Christmas. Luckily my cards also come in packs, to help you on your merry way!
